What the heck is learning anyways? Well, that is a hard question to answer with no one clear answer but
I’ll take a stab at it. I think that learning means something different to everyone. I believe the reason
behind this is that everyone has had different experiences with learning and being taught different skills,
so I think these are contributors to people’s interpretations of learning. I also know that people learn in
different ways on different days. I know learning is this way because of several reasons.

The first reason I know this is because of my experiences with learning. My experiences with
learning prove this because when I’m in school, specifically science and math classes the teacher
would be explaining something to us and I would be fine with just hearing the concepts to
understand them but other days I would need a visual representation and/or a real world example
to fully understand something.

The second reason is that Blue Sky they tries to cover all the bases for learning styles. In them
doing this, it has proven to me that people learn in different ways on different days more to me
because when things are explained at Blue Sky they are explained in different ways.

Finally, interacting with all the learners has helped to prove this to me more than both of the
others because when you talk to the learners at Blue Sky and especially when you ask them
questions about their work you get a small window into their mind to see how their brain works and
how they learn. This never really happens in the traditional system and I think that’s a shame
because you not only get to see different strategies of completing tasks which helps the children
learn from each other. Another cool thing to see when this happens bits of people’s personalities
show when you hear how they approach(ed) a task.

In conclusion learning does and will mean something different to everyone because of people’s
different experiences with learning and being taught different skills that contribute to people’s
interpretations of learning and how they describe it. So, ask the people close to you what learning
is to them, their answers may surprise you.

    I love your reflection of how vital it is for different learners to get to communicate with one another about how they learn. I love your image of the "small window into their mind to see how their brain works and how they learn."

My Learning Brain   Over the past few weeks I had the opportunity to explore how I learn through this exploration which was Cognition. An exploration is a “subject” that we spend  couple months focusing on. Reflecting on how I learn, I there are  certain circumstances under which I learn best. I learn best independently with no distractions or sounds. I also learn best when I am organized, energized, actively engaged or taking notes.  Finally, I learn best in small groups.  There are a lot of ways that I learn best, but these are the ones I feel are most important. What is your brain? How does it learn? Last year I was really interested in different types of brains and how they learn so I came up with a theory for 6 different types of brains and I made a quiz to see how different people’s brains learn (this is the quiz .) Then, this year we started learning more about how the brain works and what happens when you learn.
